Bell Choirs -new

St. John's Ringers   Fellowship Ringers

The St. John's Ringers is the "original" bell choir at St. John's UCC. It is an adult bell choir for experienced musicians. Formed decades ago by Mr. Floyd Schlegel, the choir is now under the direction of Mr. L. Rick Hilborn. The choir is one of the most experienced handbell choirs in the Lehigh Valley, as the current members of the choir have collectively rung for a total of 355 years!

With a long history of performance excellence, both in and out of the church, the choir has hosted its own bell festivals and has participated in bell festivals not only in the area, but throughout the country as well. The St. John's Ringers meet on Monday nights 7:00 – 8:30.

Members of this choir must be experienced ringers or must at least read music. The Fellowship Ringers mission is to provide music to churches that do not have a bell program and to share St. John's wealth of music with the community. This choir plays primarily outside of St. John's at other churches, senior living centers and community events such as Christkindlmarkt. We are in the search process for a new Bell Director for this Choir.

Rick Hilborn

Recently, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of our bell program and clearly proved that bell ringing continues to be an important part of the life of St. John’s. We have several bell choirs meeting throughout the week, so you can choose one that fits into your schedule. It is not necessary that you read music — we will teach you everything you need to know. There is a choir for everyone from 3rd grade through adults.
